This is an important article. The psychoanalytic community has had a curious affair with neuroscience. Some analytic clinicians feel that years of deep work repeatedly demonstrate its effectiveness and would rather not look to science to legitimitize its practice. However, in today’s world, without objective research and scientific backing, psychoanalysis’ future can seem uncertain at times.
Neuroscientists offer a unique portal and hopeful reassurance through which to support psychoanalysis & its future. In the article, some neuroscientists mention that they believe to date, little has been written outside of Freud that more closely resembles their scientific discoveries of the mind and neurons.
